Search Engine Optimization
You want your website on the first page of Google. Everyone does. It is common knowledge that in order to be successful in Google and other search engines, your site must be search engine optimized.
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Google and other search engines take many factors in to account when deciding where your website shows up. When writing content as well as HTML code for your site, there are practices that Google favors as well as ones that will get you severely penalized, or even banned. Many of these practices involve parts of your website that are not visible to the naked eye; non-programmers are at an extreme disadvantage here. Google has posted a set of guidelines for webmasters to follow.
- Website Guidelines - Google's guidelines for all webmasters
- SEO Basics - what to watch out for with Search Engine Optimization
Through proper coding and organization, I will make sure your web site follows Google's guidelines. I will also teach you tricks on writing content that follows Google's guidelines. No one can guarentee you a #1 ranking on Google, but I can make sure you are taking steps in the right direction. Below some of the key features of this package are listed (Don't be afraid if you don't understand anything! I will explain everything at a comfortable pace for you.)
The Process
1) Enrich your content and Meta tags with specific, relevant key phrases.
- Keyword analysis - choose specific, targeted key phrases
- Enrich your content with these keywords, removing useless content
- Minimize the use of images, and maximize the use of text
- Correct irrelevant/lengthy/missing page titles and meta descriptions
2) Analyze your sites links
- Remove broken or irrelavant links
- Understand and minimize link loss on your site
- Make sure Google can find your links
- Make sure all links have relevant, descriptive title tags
- Rewrite dynamic page urls (?id=pageone) to SEO friendly addresses (/category/pageone/)
3) Correct improper coding
- Fix HTML errors and make sure every page is WC3 valid
- Fix CSS errors and make sure each style sheet validates
- Minimize the amount of tables in your site
- Make sure your site looks great in all modern browsers
3) * Connect your site with Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking and bookmarking sites
- Add "Follow Me" links through out your site that link to your Facebook account (if you use WordPress, I have great plugins for this)
- Add "Share" links through out your site that allows visitors to submit your content to social bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious.
- Adding "Follow Me" and "Share" links will increase the amount of back links to your site and thus boost your Google Pagerank
5) Finally, I will explain all the changes I've made with an in-depth report. I will also give you a question-answer session in which you can ask me anything web related. (Please contact me for a full SEO report with entirely visible text) Here are a few screenshots of an old client's SEO Report:
