Remodeling In Town

I was hired to work as the primary web developer for Remodeling In Town in February of 2007. Remodeling In Town’s mission was to provide a directory of remodeling contractors organized by state and city and categorized by service as well as to give customers the ability to rate and review contractors; the owners of Remodeling In Town hoped to generate business for contractors and help consumers find honest/affordable contractors. The client wanted me to program such a directory in PHP and to have the web site store it’s data in a MySQL database. Creating directories is a specialty of mine and I was happy to oblige such a request.

I created the directory so contractors could register and create profiles to be displayed in the city/state of their choosing. Also, I created the contractor profiles so users could upload photos to show off to potential clients. Customers could post reviews and ratings on contractor profile pages. On the home page I created a featured contractor and newest contractor section.

Finally I wrapped up the project by creating a customized administration panel so Remodeling In Town employees could manage registered contractors, delete spam reviews, and do other minor web site maintenance tasks with ease. I really enjoyed this project and hope to do business with Remodeling In Town in the future.

This is the directory homepage which displays all the states in the USA. Users first choose a state, then a city, then a remodeling contractor in that city. States, cities, and remodeling companies are all stored in the MySQL database
